This resource discusses the impacts of Shelby County v. Holder, in which the Supreme Court removed the requirement for jurisdictions with histories of racial discrimination in voting to obtain federal approval for new voting policies. It also calls for passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the Voting Rights Act to its full strength, as well as the Freedom to Vote Act to set nondiscriminatory baseline national standards for voting and elections.
