Lobbying is a way for people to talk with lawmakers. People give their opinions to the lawmakers and it helps the government make decisions. There are pros and cons to lobbying. Lobbying helps corporations and people with high incomes. For example, political action committees (PACs) raise a lot of money to fund the campaigns of political candidates. Some PACs are seen as ways to avoid the legal limits on donating to campaigns. These laws are in place to stop corruption. People want lobbying and campaign contributions to be more open to the public. PACs need to show where they get their money and be separate from candidates. This creates more honesty with the people.
