This report reviews Health Impact Assessments (HIAs) conducted in the United States, England, and New Zealand, specifically on policies related to alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. It highlights the use of HIAs to systematically analyze potential health impacts, promote positive effects, and mitigate adverse consequences of these policies, showing that HIAs can increase awareness among decision-makers, enhance collaboration among stakeholders, and directly influence policy decisions.
