Staff Contributor: Sara Ivey
Sara Ivey, MPH, MURP (she/her) has been a Contributor to Community Commons since 2018, where she leads Community Commons’ data team, produces digital content through partner projects, and shares expertise in place-based health initiatives and community assessment as a staff writer. Sara is most passionate about democratizing data and is dedicated to fostering and lifting up the voices of young and emerging changemakers, including as a mentor to student and intern contributors to Community Commons.
Sara has more than 10 years experience in public health, including research, assessment and evaluation, environmental public health, international development, and consulting. Currently, Sara is the Project Director for the Institute of People, Place and Possibility (IP3, steward of Community Commons), where she leads data strategy and development of knowledge management products, coordinates the internship program, and fosters key partnerships for Community Commons. Sara earned her dual Master of Public Health and Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University, with focuses in environmental health, planning, and sustainability. Sara also holds a Bachelor of Science in public health from the University of Washington.
Sara resides in Tacoma, Washington. When she’s not knee-deep in data, Sara loves traveling and experiencing different places and cultures.
